Determining the Requirements
Employers should develop an exact, in-depth, and unequivocal understanding of the attributes and competencies, requisite for the candidates to be suitable and successful in their workplace. They should employ sufficient number of employees in each of the organization’s departments according to the possible workload to meet the set targets. Candidates selected must be appropriately suitable to the posts, and there should be a cooperative and harmonious relationship among all the departments, and also the public relations within the organization. The HR department should devise criteria for making the selection, based on the nature of various present and future requirements of the organization, the availability of resources, present and future possible workload, and future planning.
A checklist of questions to be asked from each candidate during his/her interviews should be prepared beforehand, to facilitate a fast but comprehensive and rigorous interview. Moreover, the checklist must contain topics and questions which very easily can reveal and appraise the candidates’ competencies, weaknesses, outlook, and latent motives.
